Student moves are unique — smaller volumes, tighter budgets and often very specific timing constraints. This guide covers every element from first year to graduation.
Halls provide more than you expect. You need bedding (check mattress size), towels, a kettle, a power strip and a desk lamp. Everything else can wait. Most first-year students bring twice as much as they need and struggle to fit it in.
Book 3–4 weeks before term starts for September moves. Coordinate with flatmates going to the same area — sharing a van splits the cost dramatically. A medium Transit is typically right for one room's worth of student possessions.
Book well in advance. Every student in your building moves out in the same two weeks. Pack at least two days before your move-out deadline. Check your contract carefully for exactly which date and time you must vacate.
Storing your room's contents over summer costs less than transporting everything home and back twice. A small unit for student possessions costs £15–£30/week with many providers, or ask about our student storage packages.
Coordinate move-in day with all housemates. Try to get everyone moving in on the same day — it's more efficient, more fun and avoids any confusion about which items belong to which room.
